1. Wiring
A total of 6 wires, SCL, 5v, TX, RX, GND, and SDA, need to be connected. Except for tx and rx, solder them according to the marked names.
Note: FC's tx needs to be connected to GPS's rx, and FC's rx needs to be connected to GPS's tx.
Some GPSs do not include a compass and only have 4pins, just don’t connect SDA and SCL, and other settings are the same.
F405V3 FC: can only be connected by welding.
F7V3 FC: It can be connected directly by cable or by welding.
Note: Before using the cable connection, be sure to carefully check whether the wire sequence is correct.
(1) welding connection
(2) Cable connection
2. Set the configurator (connect according to the wiring diagram).
(1) Open the configurator to connect to FC
Open the port page, open the UART 6 serial port (the serial port connected to the TX and RX of gps) sensor input, select gps, the baud rate is recommended to select auto, click save and restart.
(2) Open the configuration page
a.Turn on gps (default is off).
b.Turn on Auto Baud
c.Select the gps protocol (most gps select the ublox protocol).
d.Click Save and Restart.
The GPS light above the configurator lights up, indicating that the setting is successful.
When taking off for the first time in a new flight field, the start of the GPS is a cold start, and the time to search for satellites will be relatively long (1-2 minutes). In the following flights, the start of the GPS is a hot start, and the search time will be reduced (1-10s).
